Biography of Takeshi MIZUNO :
Dr. Takeshi Mizuno received the Doctor of Engineering Degree from the University of Tokyo in 1985; the title of the thesis was “Control of magnetic bearing”. He was a Research Associate at the Institute of Industrial Science, the University of Tokyo from 1980 to 1985, and an Assistant Professor at Polytech University of Japan from 1985 to 1988. Since 1988, he has been with the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Saitama University where currently he is the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering. He stayed at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich as a gust professor from November in 1990 to October in 1991. His research interests pertain to control engineering, mechatronics, magnetic suspension, magnetic bearing, electrostatic suspension, active vibration control, vibration isolation, micro-assembly, ultrasonic mechatronics, and instruments for measuring mass and force. He is the author of 170 journal papers and 315 international conference publications.
He has received the Outstanding Paper Award from the Society of Instrument and Control Engineers (SICE), 1998 and 2006, Outstanding Paper Award from the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers (JSME), 2004, 2012, and 2019, Best Paper Award from the Japan Society of Applied Electromagnetics and Mechanics (JSAEM), 2006, 2014, and 2017.
He served as the Editor-in-Chief of Journal of System Design and Dynamics (JSDD) from 2008 to 2011 and is serving as an Associate Editor of Mechatronics. He served as the President of of Asian Control Association (ACA) from 2018 to 2020.
He was the General Chairperson of the Sixth International Conference on Motion and Vibration Control (6th MOVIC), the Eleventh International Symposium on Magnetic Bearings (ISMB-11), the 20th Magnetodynamics (MAGDA) Conference in Pacific Asia, and the 12th Asian Control Conference (ASCC 2019).
